The All Progressives Congress (APC) has re-elected Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda as its National Chairman during the party’s 8th National Convention held in Abuja.
Yilwatda’s re-election was part of a broader consensus arrangement that saw all members of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) returned through an affirmative voice vote. The newly elected officials were immediately sworn in and are expected to oversee the party’s affairs for the next four years.
Key members of the NWC include Ali Dalori as Deputy National Chairman (North), Emma Eneukwu as Deputy National Chairman (South), Surajudeen Basiru as National Secretary, alongside other principal officers such as Bashir Gumel and Murtala Kankia.
In his acceptance speech, Yilwatda pledged to lead a more united, transparent, and inclusive party, emphasizing the need to strengthen internal democracy and rebuild trust among members. He stated that the APC would continue to expand its reach across the country while ensuring that every member feels heard and valued.

He also highlighted plans to empower young people, describing them as a vital force in both the present and future of the party. According to him, the APC would work towards building a stronger political platform that reflects both national and continental aspirations.
Yilwatda commended Bola Tinubu for his leadership and continued support for the party, noting that ongoing economic reforms and infrastructure investments are beginning to stabilize the nation’s economy.
Describing his new role as a significant responsibility, he said the leadership of the party carries the trust of millions of members across the country. He assured that his administration would operate an open-door policy and remain accountable to party stakeholders.
Expressing optimism about the future, Yilwatda stated that the APC is well-positioned to secure victory in the 2027 general elections, driven by unity, strong leadership, and commitment to its “Renewed Hope” agenda.
