Zamfara NSCDC Strengthens Private Guard Companies’ Role in Security Efforts

The Zamfara State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) has emphasized that conventional security agencies alone cannot fully address the state’s escalating security challenges. It stressed the need for enhanced training and collaboration with Private Guard Companies (PGCs) to strengthen security efforts.

State Commandant Sani Mustapha made this known during the passing-out ceremony of newly trained PGC personnel in Gusau, the state capital.

“As we all know, the entire nation is grappling with security challenges, and no region is exempt,” Mustapha stated, underscoring the necessity of collective responsibility in tackling insecurity.

He highlighted the critical role of PGCs in safeguarding lives and property, noting that their grassroots presence makes them valuable assets in the ongoing fight against crime.

“In light of this, the Federal Government has mandated the NSCDC to license, monitor, train, and retrain PGC personnel to ensure their efficiency, professionalism, and relevance in security operations,” he added.

Mustapha further revealed that the guards underwent an intensive one-week training program, equipping them with essential security skills. Based on their performance, testimonies, and responsiveness, he expressed confidence in their ability to contribute meaningfully to the state’s security framework.
