Troops Foil Terrorists’ Supply Chain, Arrest 16 Suspects in North-East

Troops under Operation HADIN KAI have successfully intercepted terrorists’ logistics and apprehended 16 suspects during sustained military operations across Nigeria’s North-East region, reinforcing ongoing efforts to curb insurgency.
According to an operational report released by the Nigerian Army to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the troops disrupted a cross-border fuel smuggling network believed to be supplying insurgents with critical resources.
The report revealed that soldiers from the 3 Battalion (Mechanised), acting on credible intelligence, intercepted 19 jerrycans of Automotive Gas Oil (AGO) and two carts in the Gamboru/Ngala area of Borno State, near the Nigeria–Cameroon border. The troops reportedly raided known smuggling routes, forcing suspects to abandon the items and flee.
In a separate operation, troops arrested 16 individuals along the Biu–Buratai–Kamuya road in Biu Local Government Area. Although the suspects claimed affiliation with hybrid forces, a thorough search led to the recovery of ammunition, magazines, improvised explosive device (IED) materials, military uniforms, and several mobile phones.
Security forces also recovered a motorcycle earlier stolen by terrorists during an ആക്രമation in neighbouring Yobe State, highlighting continued efforts to reclaim assets and weaken insurgent mobility.

Further operations in Chibok Local Government Area saw troops engage insurgents in a brief firefight. The terrorists were forced to retreat under military pressure, demonstrating the effectiveness of rapid response tactics.
The army noted that these successes are part of ongoing offensives under Operation Desert Sanity V, which involves aggressive patrols and clearance missions across key sectors. The initiative aims to deny terrorists freedom of movement, disrupt their supply chains, and dismantle criminal networks operating in the region.
Military authorities emphasised that sustained pressure on insurgents remains critical to restoring peace and stability in the North-East. They reaffirmed their commitment to intelligence-driven operations and collaboration with local communities to enhance security.
The latest developments underscore the military’s determination to degrade terrorist capabilities and maintain operational momentum against insurgent groups threatening the region’s safety.
