Vice President Kashim Shettima has commenced a two-week leave after officially notifying President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, reaffirming his unwavering commitment to serving Nigeria with dedication and patriotism.
According to the Presidency, the leave forms part of the Vice President’s official entitlement and is in line with established procedures for public office holders. During the period, government activities will continue without interruption as relevant institutions remain fully operational.
Before proceeding on the break, Shettima expressed appreciation to Nigerians for their continued support and confidence in the administration. He assured citizens that his temporary absence from official duties would not affect the government’s commitment to implementing policies aimed at improving the lives of Nigerians.
The Vice President reiterated that public service remains a sacred responsibility, stressing that every opportunity to serve the country must be guided by integrity, accountability and dedication to national development. He noted that the administration remains focused on delivering on its promises in critical sectors, including the economy, infrastructure, security, education and healthcare.

Shettima also reaffirmed his loyalty to President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, stating that the administration would continue to pursue reforms designed to strengthen governance, expand economic opportunities and improve the welfare of citizens. He emphasized that sustainable national development requires collective effort, unity and responsible leadership.

Observers noted that senior government officials are entitled to annual leave as part of public service regulations, provided the appropriate procedures are followed. Such breaks are intended to allow public office holders to rest and return to work refreshed while ensuring continuity in governance.

He has repeatedly called on Nigerians to support government initiatives aimed at fostering economic growth, strengthening democratic institutions and promoting national stability.
As the Vice President begins his leave, the Presidency has assured citizens that government business will proceed as scheduled. Officials reiterated that ongoing programmes, policy implementation and administrative responsibilities across ministries, departments and agencies will continue uninterrupted, while Shettima is expected to resume his duties after the expiration of his leave.
