Pastor and Wife Abducted After Gunmen Storm Church in Kogi

A church in Ejiba, Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State was attacked by armed gunmen during Sunday service, resulting in the abduction of the pastor and his wife as well as other members of the congregation.

The worship session at the newly established Cherubim and Seraphim Church was disrupted when the assailants opened fire. Worshippers were forced to flee in panic as gunshots rang out and chaos engulfed the area. The pastor known locally as “Orlando” and his wife were seized along with several others from the congregation.

Following the attack, the government of Kogi State launched a manhunt for the perpetrators. Security agencies, together with local authorities, were mobilized to track down the bandits and secure the safe release of those abducted. Residents were urged to remain vigilant, report suspicious movements, and avoid holding gatherings in high‑risk or remote worship centres until safety can be guaranteed.
