The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has announced a bold plan to expand its base nationwide by targeting 14 million registered members across Nigeria ahead of the 2027 elections. The party’s National Secretary, Rauf Aregbesola, made this known during a stakeholders’ meeting in Ibadan, Oyo State, where leaders and representatives from the South-West gathered to discuss strategy and mobilisation.
Aregbesola said the party will focus on building a strong membership base by attracting Nigerians who feel dissatisfied with the current political order. He explained that the plan to secure 14 million registered members across Nigeria is ambitious but achievable once grassroots mobilisation begins in earnest.

“Our goal is to bring in Nigerians who are ready to work for genuine progress,” he told party stakeholders. He added that the ADC wants to “separate the wheat from the chaff” by ensuring that only credible, committed people join its ranks as it grows toward 14 million registered members across Nigeria.
Aregbesola stressed that the ADC was not created to wage political fights against individuals or other parties. Instead, he said, it aims to foster a service-driven movement that focuses on public service and community development. He also said the plan for 14 million registered members across Nigeria will help the party strengthen its presence from wards and local governments to state and national levels.
As part of efforts to deepen its structure, the ADC leader directed new zonal leaders to set up state-level teams quickly. He set a timeframe for the South-West leadership to establish fully functional state committees. Aregbesola also unveiled plans to create a regional assembly for progressive leaders, which would include representatives from different zones, communities, women, and youths as the push for 14 million registered members across Nigeria gains momentum.
Party executives inaugurated at the meeting include the National Vice Chairman for the South-West and other officers tasked with strengthening party organisation in their respective states. The leaders pledged to work tirelessly toward expanding membership and supporting grassroots engagement.
The ADC hopes that achieving 14 million registered members across Nigeria will position it as a credible alternative in the 2027 elections and give it a solid foundation to promote its political agenda nationwide.
