The Osun State Government has dismissed allegations that about ₦11 billion was looted from government coffers, insisting that the claims do not reflect the true financial position of the state.
Responding to issues reportedly raised by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), the state’s Commissioner for Information stated that the allegations are misleading and unsupported by verifiable facts. He maintained that the government has remained committed to transparency, accountability and prudent management of public funds.
According to the commissioner, all financial transactions carried out by the current administration have followed due process and are backed by official records. He argued that there is no evidence to support claims that billions of naira were diverted or misappropriated.
The commissioner further explained that the state government has consistently complied with financial regulations and remains open to scrutiny by relevant anti-corruption and oversight agencies. He stressed that the administration has nothing to hide and would cooperate with any lawful investigation aimed at establishing the facts.
