The All Progressives Congress (APC) has reiterated its commitment to conducting a transparent and credible national convention as part of preparations for the 2027 general elections.
This assurance was given by Lateef Fagbemi, Chairman of the National Convention Coordination Committee Secretariat (NCCCS), during a meeting in Abuja. He was represented by Bello Goronyo.
Fagbemi noted that the party has established several committees to ensure full compliance with Nigeria’s legal and electoral frameworks, describing the approach as strictly rule-based. A central legal committee has been tasked with overseeing adherence to the Constitution, Electoral Act, and party guidelines throughout the convention process.
He explained that other committees have also been set up to handle dispute resolution, documentation, and the preparation of legal instruments before, during, and after the convention.
To foster unity, the party has created an additional committee focused on engaging aspirants and promoting consensus-building among stakeholders.

The NCCCS includes key figures such as Ibrahim Shema and Victor Ndoma-Egba, along with senior advocates, academics, and legal professionals.
Fagbemi said reports from these committees have been reviewed, with implementation already underway to minimize disputes.
He emphasized that the APC remains committed to democratic principles and the rule of law, in line with the agenda of Bola Tinubu. He added that the party is open and inclusive, aiming to strengthen unity and position itself for a credible convention and a fair electoral process in 2027.
