Tinubu Receives 21 New Envoys, Pledges Strengthened Global Partnerships

On Thursday in Abuja, Bola Ahmed Tinubu welcomed Letters of Credence from 17 newly appointed ambassadors and four high commissioners during a ceremony at the Council Chamber of the State House. The diplomatic gesture was hailed as a signal of Nigeria’s renewed commitment to deepen bilateral ties and reinforce global cooperation.

Tinubu addressed the trio of long-standing friendship, strategic partnerships, and shared global responsibility — stating that the envoys’ accreditation underscored the depth of Nigeria’s diplomatic engagement worldwide. He emphasized that their host countries and Nigeria now share renewed momentum to expand collaboration in areas of mutual interest including trade, energy, agriculture, education, technology, defence cooperation, and cultural exchange.

The President underscored that Nigeria remains determined to strengthen democratic institutions, push forward economic reforms, and create an enabling environment for investment, innovation and sustainable development. According to him, the challenges faced by the global community — from security threats and climate pressures to economic instability and humanitarian issues — demand collective and cooperative responses. In that context, he assured the envoys of an open-door policy and promised full cooperation of the Nigerian government throughout their tenure.

Speaking on behalf of his fellow diplomats, the ambassador of Japan, Suzuki Hideo, described the credential presentation as both historic and remarkable. He lauded Nigeria’s leadership as visionary, noting the country’s growing global relevance, steady economic reforms, and enhanced security posture under Tinubu’s administration. The envoys expressed optimism that their presence in Nigeria would deepen mutual understanding, facilitate cooperation, and contribute to the prosperity and stability of not only Nigeria but the international community at large.

By welcoming this broad cohort of envoys from countries spanning multiple continents, the government of Nigeria reaffirmed its intent to remain an active participant on the global stage — committed to diplomacy, collaboration, and shared growth.
