English FA Cup Matches to Include Ramadan Break for Muslim Players

This week’s English FA Cup matches will briefly pause to allow Muslim players to break their fast during Ramadan.

The holy month, which runs through March this year, sees Muslims worldwide abstaining from food and drink during daylight hours.

The English Football Association stated in their fifth-round fact sheet that players observing Ramadan will be given a short break in play to break their fast. An approximate time for the pause will be agreed upon, but it will not serve as a team drinks break or a tactical time-out.

Muslim players participating over the weekend include Manchester City’s Omar Marmoush and Abdukodir Khusanov, Manchester United defender Noussair Mazraoui, and Fulham winger Adama Traoré.
