The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Zamfara State Chapter, wishes to clarify its position regarding the recent events in Mafara. A delegation of our party officials were in Mafara today for two reasons: to condole with Mafara Emirate over the unfortunate fire incident and the recent attack in Jangebe town; more so, to present letter of appointments to the newly appointed party executives behind closed doors in line with the party’s internal administrative processes.
We want to make it absolutely clear that the PDP had no involvement in the large political gathering in Talatar Mafara, and disassociates itself from that event. The gathering in question does not reflect the party’s stance or intentions.
As previously stated, the PDP is fully committed to abiding by the current ban on political gatherings imposed by the state government, and we respect the decision to refrain from such activities until further notice. In line with this, the party has also suspended the planned launching of its zonal offices across the three Senatorial Districts.
We urge all party members, as well as opposition parties, to adhere to the directive and avoid organizing any political gatherings in the state during this period.
