Education Reform: Governor Sule and UBEC Unite for Inclusive Learning in Nasarawa

Nasarawa State is intensifying efforts to bridge its education gap, particularly addressing the growing crisis of almajiri and out-of-school children. In a strategic move to enhance basic education, Governor Abdullahi Sule welcomed the Executive Secretary of the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), Aisha Garba, to the Government House in Lafia.

Governor Sule’s Commitment to Quality Education

Governor Sule reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to providing quality education for all children in the state. He also congratulated Aisha Garba on her appointment as UBEC’s Executive Secretary and commended her passion for education reforms.

During the visit, Garba praised the state government’s efforts in strengthening basic education and acknowledged the pressing challenge of out-of-school children, with an estimated 17 million children currently out of school nationwide.

Key Focus Areas: Tackling Out-of-School Crisis

The discussions centered on critical strategies to reduce the number of out-of-school children and integrate the almajiri system into formal education. Additionally, Garba outlined initiatives aimed at empowering women and children through sustainable education policies.

As Nasarawa continues its push for inclusive learning, this collaboration between Governor Sule’s administration and UBEC could mark a significant turning point in ensuring that every child in the state has access to quality education.
