Wike Allied Faction Reaffirms Expulsions in Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)

PDP

A faction of the PDP connected to Nyesom Wike has officially confirmed that 18 senior party members have been expelled. The announcement was made by its National Secretary, Samuel Anyanwu.

The confirmed list includes sitting governors: Seyi Makinde (Oyo State), Bala Mohammed (Bauchi State), and Dauda Lawal (Zamfara State). Also expelled are veteran party figures and former National Officers, among them Adolphus Wabara, Bode George, and Kabiru Tanimu Turaki. In total, 18 politicians were named in the expulsion directive.

The faction cited “anti-party activities,” “gross misconduct,” and repeated disobedience to legitimate court orders as the grounds for removal. According to the group, such behavior had damaged the party’s image and undermined its internal cohesion. Supporters and the public were told to ignore any claims that the expelled members still represent the PDP or hold any party authority.

The faction further dismissed as illegitimate a recent gathering in Ibadan — which included some of the expelled members — calling it a social event rather than a valid national convention. The group warns against accepting any titles or leadership claims arising from that meeting.

The move escalates an already deep crisis within the PDP. Both the Wike-aligned group and the opposing faction continue to assert their own leadership, rejecting each other’s decisions and claiming legitimacy. The internal conflict has led to the dissolution of several state-level party structures and the installation of caretaker committees in their place.

As tension mounts, the general public and party faithful face confusion and uncertainty over who truly leads the PDP Party. The fissure raises doubts about the party’s readiness and unity ahead of future elections with many observers warning that the ongoing power struggle could weaken the party further.

The situation remains fluid, as both factions continue to claim authority and denounce the other’s actions.
