A former Oyo State coordinator of the City Boy Movement has explained the reasons behind his decision to leave the political support group, saying the move followed personal convictions and differences over the direction of the organisation.
Speaking during an interview, the former coordinator stated that his decision was made after careful consideration and was not driven by personal hostility toward any individual or political leader. He said he believed it was necessary to pursue a different political path that aligns with his convictions and future aspirations.
According to him, political organisations should encourage internal dialogue, inclusiveness and respect for differing opinions. He noted that members should feel free to express their views without fear of intimidation or exclusion.
The former coordinator maintained that his departure should not be interpreted as an attack on the City Boy Movement or its members. Instead, he described it as a personal decision taken in the interest of his political growth and principles.

He acknowledged the opportunities and experiences he gained while serving in the organisation and expressed appreciation to members who worked alongside him. He added that those experiences contributed to his understanding of grassroots mobilisation and political engagement.
Political observers described defections and resignations as common features of democratic politics, especially as parties and support groups prepare for future elections. They noted that political realignments often occur when individuals reassess their priorities or seek new platforms to pursue their objectives.
The former coordinator urged politicians and their supporters to promote peaceful engagement and avoid hostility toward individuals who choose different political paths. He stressed that democracy thrives when citizens are free to associate with organisations of their choice.
He concluded by reaffirming his commitment to participating in Nigeria’s democratic process and supporting initiatives that promote good governance, accountability and national development. He expressed optimism that constructive political engagement and mutual respect would continue to strengthen democratic institutions across the country.
