Troops of the Nigerian Army, in collaboration with a tactical team, have killed 21 Boko Haram terrorists during a joint raid on a terrorist camp around the Kopre Mountain general area of Hong Local Government Area of Adamawa State.
According to a report by Zagazola Makama, the operation was conducted between the early hours of August 26 and August 27, following credible intelligence on the presence of Boko Haram terrorists in the area.
Military sources cited in the report said the troops moved into the general area by stealth between 1:30 a.m. on August 26 and 4:10 a.m. on August 27, before launching an assault on the terrorists’ camp around Kopre Mountain.
The operation reportedly resulted in the killing of 21 terrorists, while some others were said to have escaped with gunshot wounds.
The terrorist camp was also destroyed, alongside logistics and other items found at the location.Several weapons and ammunition were recovered, including AK-47 rifles, AK-47 magazines and 7.62mm special ammunition.
Several motorcycles, bicycles and jerrycans containing Premium Motor Spirit were also destroyed during the operation.
The military further disclosed that one member of the hunter component supporting the operation was killed during the encounter, while no loss of military equipment was reported.
The operation has been described as part of the ongoing efforts by troops of Operation Hadin Kai to disrupt terrorist activities and deny Boko Haram elements freedom of movement and access to logistics in parts of Adamawa State.
