The Sokoto State Police Command successfully extended its operations beyond state borders with a cross-border mission in Talata Mafara Local Government Area of Zamfara State. On Wednesday, December 3, 2025, a Strike Force team targeted a criminal syndicate involved in motorcycle theft, handling stolen property, and criminal conspiracy.
The operation began around 5:00 PM after police received actionable intelligence linking several individuals to a theft network. Officers tracked the suspects to their hideout, executed coordinated movements, and arrested multiple suspects believed to be key members of the syndicate.
During the operation, two motorcycles suspected to be stolen were recovered. Preliminary investigations confirmed that the recovered bikes are linked to an ongoing case in Sokoto State. The suspects are being interrogated to identify other collaborators and the larger network that facilitates motorcycle theft across state lines.
CP Ahmed Musa, the Commissioner of Police, praised the officers for their vigilance, precision, and collaboration with the Zamfara State Police Command. He emphasized that the Command is committed to disrupting criminal networks wherever they operate and that proactive policing remains central to safeguarding citizens and property.
The police encouraged residents, especially motorcycle dealers, to always demand proof of ownership before purchase and to report suspicious activities immediately. CP Musa highlighted that public participation is crucial to dismantling criminal networks and maintaining law and order. He reassured the public that all information provided would be treated with strict confidentiality.
This cross-border operation demonstrates the Sokoto Police Command’s ability to pursue criminals outside its immediate jurisdiction while coordinating with neighboring commands. By targeting both operational and logistical elements of crime, the Command aims to weaken syndicates and prevent theft, ensuring that communities remain safe and secure.
