A building under construction along Sir Kashim Road in the GRA area of Bauchi was reported to have collapsed, leaving six construction workers trapped beneath the debris. The incident led to an urgent response by emergency personnel, and rescue operations were immediately initiated.
A crane was deployed to carefully lift heavy concrete and metal materials as rescue efforts progressed. After several hours of coordinated work, all six trapped workers were successfully pulled out alive. The workers were then transported to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital, where medical treatment was administered. Some workers were said to have sustained moderate to severe injuries, including bleeding and fractures, while others remained conscious and stable.

The accident prompted expressions of concern from residents and observers, particularly regarding construction quality and monitoring on building sites within the city. Questions were raised about whether the structure had passed required safety inspections before construction activities continued.
Authorities are expected to begin an investigation into the cause of the collapse to determine whether structural defects, substandard materials, engineering oversight, or negligence were involved. The outcome of the inquiry is anticipated to guide further enforcement actions and safety regulations.
The public has been reassured that safety compliance will be reviewed to prevent similar incidents in the future.
