Medical students at Northwest University Sokoto (NWUS) were welcomed into their academic and professional journey on Friday as the institution held a one-day orientation programme to officially induct its latest cohort.
The event, held with the approval and support of the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Mukhtar Umar Bunza, reflected the university’s commitment to raising a new generation of competent and ethical health professionals.
Declaring the programme open, Provost of the College, Prof. Muhammad Umar, delivered a compelling presentation on “Ethics and Dressing Code for Medical Professionals.” He charged the fresh students to embody discipline, integrity, and professionalism in their conduct “You must carry yourselves with dignity and live up to the trust society places on medical professionals.”

Also speaking, Director of the College, Dr. Jamil Lukman Ahmad, drilled the students on “Examination Rules and Regulations,” warning against malpractice and stressing the importance of academic honesty and compliance with university policies.
In a goodwill message, Vice Chancellor Prof. Bunza reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to providing a world-class learning environment.
“Take full advantage of every resource we have put at your disposal. You are the future of healthcare, and we expect you to compete globally,” he told the students.
The interactive session drew participation from faculty, administrative staff, and the visibly excited new students, who pledged to uphold the values and standards of NWUS.
