Four of the five police officers killed by bandits on Saturday in Sabon Sara village, Darazo Local Government Area of Bauchi State, have been buried.
The Bauchi State Police Command said the officers were ambushed and killed by bandits.
The slain officers are DSP Ahmad Muhammad (SID), ASP Mustapha Muhammad (10 PMF), Inspector Amarhel Yunusa (10 PMF), Inspector Idris Ahmed (10 PMF), and Corporal Isah Muazu (AKU).
Two other officers, Inspector Isah Musa (SID) and Inspector Yusuf Gambo (SID), sustained varying degrees of injuries.
The funeral prayer was held at the Jammatul Izalatul Bidiah Wa Ikamatus Sunnah (JIBWIS) Central Mosque, Gwallaga, Bauchi.
Families of the deceased officers and sympathisers accompanied the four Muslim officers to the Dungulbi burial ground, where they were buried according to Islamic rites.
Hundreds of sympathisers attended the funeral, including senior police officers led by the Bauchi State Commissioner of Police, Sani Omolori Aliyu, officers of other security agencies, senior state government officials, religious leaders, and other mourners who came to pay their last respects to the slain officers.
In a statement, the command’s spokesperson, Ahmed Wakil, said, “With deep sorrow, we gather to honour the brave police officers who were tragically ambushed during a weekend duty.
“Their bravery and sacrifice will always be remembered. These courageous men stood firm in danger, answering their duty with pride, resolve, and a strong dedication to protecting our communities.
“Their loss reminds us of the daily courage our officers show to keep us safe. Our thoughts and heartfelt condolences go to their families, friends, and colleagues.

The command prayed for the late officers, adding, “May their memory forever comfort and inspire us, and may Allah give the families strength to endure this irreplaceable loss and bring peace to all who mourn.”
Meanwhile, several religious organisations, professional bodies, and other sympathisers have continued to visit the command’s headquarters along Yandoka Street in the heart of Bauchi metropolis to offer their condolences.
