The Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE) Project in Sokoto State has applauded the media for its continuous role in promoting its programmes targeted at boosting girl-child education across the state.
The recognition came at the bi-annual AGILE Media Roundtable, convened to enhance cooperation between the project and media practitioners.
In his address, the State Project Coordinator, Dr. Mansur Isah Buhari, expressed gratitude to media outlets for their dedication to accurate and impactful reporting, noting that ongoing media collaboration remains essential to realizing AGILE’s mission of expanding access to education, ensuring school retention and empowering adolescent girls.
Another project official, Sulaiman Musa, presented a summary of the project’s accomplishments in 2025. He listed the construction and rehabilitation of junior secondary schools, installation of water and sanitation facilities, distribution of conditional cash transfers, creation of safe spaces for girls, deployment of solar-powered lighting, school fencing and tree-planting efforts.
He added that the project has partnered with Islamic scholars to sensitize communities and promote the re-enrolment of girls in schools.
Sulaiman disclosed that AGILE is currently being implemented in 18 states nationwide, with Sokoto State emerging as the top-performing state based on World Bank evaluation. He further revealed that media involvement will receive increased attention in 2026.

In her contribution, the Head of the Project’s Communication Unit, Hajiya Rabi Muhammad Gwadabawa, said the roundtable was designed to inform the public about AGILE’s programmes and their positive impact on girl-child education.
Media executives at the forum assured the project of their continued cooperation and formally endorsed their commitment by signing undertaking forms.
Media organizations in attendance included Caliphate Radio and TV, ALU TV Nigeria, ALU Ya Gode FM, Vision FM, Sokoto State Media Corporation, Royal FM, Alfijir FM and Garkuwa FM.
The event ended with the presentation of souvenirs to participating media organizations.
