The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has cautioned corps members and prospective participants against a fake redeployment notice circulating on social media and other online platforms. The scheme described the document as false, misleading and the handiwork of fraudsters seeking to deceive unsuspecting members of the public.
In a statement, the NYSC clarified that it had not issued any new directive altering its redeployment policy. The management urged corps members to disregard the viral message and rely only on information released through the scheme’s official communication channels.
According to the agency, all genuine redeployment requests are processed through established procedures and approved based on clearly defined criteria, including health challenges, marital status and security concerns. It stressed that no applicant is required to pay money to secure redeployment and warned that anyone demanding payment is acting illegally.
The NYSC also advised corps members to protect their personal information, including account details and login credentials, from individuals posing as officials online. It noted that cybercriminals often create fake notices to obtain sensitive information or extort money from unsuspecting victims.

Management encouraged corps members to verify any information they receive before taking action. It urged them to contact NYSC offices or visit the agency’s official website and verified social media platforms whenever they have doubts about any announcement.
The scheme reaffirmed its commitment to transparency and the welfare of corps members, adding that disciplinary measures would be taken against anyone found impersonating the organisation or spreading false information capable of causing confusion.
Security experts have also advised young Nigerians to remain cautious of fraudulent online messages, especially those requesting urgent payments or personal details. They stressed that government agencies usually communicate important policy changes through official channels.
The NYSC assured corps members that it remains committed to improving service delivery and maintaining the integrity of the mobilisation process. It urged all participants to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to the appropriate authorities while continuing to comply with official guidelines throughout their service year.
