Ganduje Alleges Gov Yusuf Received More Federal Funds in 6 Months Than He Did in 8 Years

The former Kano State Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje claimed that in just six months of the current administration, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has generated more revenue than Ganduje did over his entire eight‑year tenure.

Ganduje made this assertion while responding to criticisms from his successor. He argued that Yusufs’s critics are trying to shift attention away from the gains of the present government and insisted that there is justification for the sharp increase in statutory allocations that Kano State has been receiving under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.

However, Governor Yusuf pushed back vigorously. Through his spokesman, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, he accused Ganduje’s time in office of being marred by massive corruption, mismanagement, diversion of public funds, and the sale of public assets. Yusuf contended that his administration’s first eight months have already outperformed what he described as Ganduje’s “eight wasted years” by all measurable standards.

Yusuf also urged the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to make public the forensic investigation into the controversial “Gandollar” scandal of 2018, which involved allegations of large sums of foreign currency being hidden away. He emphasized that his government remains committed to holding any public officials who have misappropriated funds accountable, stating that those found guilty must face the full weight of the law.
