FCT Minister, Chinese Ambassador Strengthen Bilateral Partnership

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Barr. Nyesom Wike, has reaffirmed the FCT Administration’s commitment to strengthening its partnership with China in key areas of development. During a strategic meeting with the Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria, H.E. Yhu Dunhai, Barr. Wike emphasized the need to expand cooperation beyond infrastructure, calling for stronger collaboration in agriculture, ICT, and education.

Expanding Cooperation Beyond Infrastructure

While China has played a significant role in Nigeria’s infrastructure development, Barr. Wike stressed that the partnership should extend to other critical sectors. He particularly highlighted youth development, digital innovation, and technological advancement as essential components of the FCT’s progress. According to him, equipping young people with the right skills in ICT and education will drive the city’s future economic and technological growth.

The FCT Minister assured the Chinese Ambassador of his administration’s readiness to work closely with Chinese partners to implement initiatives that will foster long-term growth in these sectors.

Ambassador Yhu Dunhai acknowledged the strong history of collaboration between China and the FCT, noting that past partnerships have significantly contributed to the capital city’s development. He commended the FCT Administration for its dedication to advancing key projects and reaffirmed China’s willingness to expand its support in crucial areas.

He further highlighted China’s expertise in urban planning, smart technology, and sustainable agriculture as potential foundations for new projects in the FCT. Ambassador Yhu also emphasized China’s commitment to mutual political trust and shared development goals, stressing that the bilateral relationship between China and the FCT would continue to flourish.
