Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has revealed that he attempted to present the 2025 Appropriation Bill at the House of Assembly quarters in compliance with a Supreme Court judgment but found the entrance locked.
Speaking to reporters, Gov. Fubara, who arrived at the quarters on Wednesday morning accompanied by members of his executive council, expressed surprise at the development.
He stated that he had made prior efforts to notify the Speaker and other lawmakers through official letters, phone calls, and WhatsApp messages regarding his planned presentation of the budget. Additionally, he emphasized that a formal letter had been sent to the Speaker to communicate his intention.
Gov. Fubara reiterated that his actions were solely in the interest of the state and affirmed his readiness to re-present the 2025 budget whenever the lawmakers are prepared to receive it.
